At the heart of the initiative are Le Vie della Carta (The Paper Routes), performative itineraries that pass through bookshops, bookbinderies, print shops, libraries, and newsstands in the municipalities of Udine and Venzone, actively involving businesses in the area.

The performances, staged as part of the 16th edition of AreaDanza_urban dance festival, offer an innovative and poetic narrative of the urban landscape and its productive history.

The project stems from a dialogue between Arearea and local publishing businesses, who come together to discuss the challenges of the digital era, sharing practices and traditions. From these encounters come site-specific performances, the result of a collaboration between the professional dancers of Compagnia Arearea, the 12 students under 35 from the Alta Formazione course, and the Lazio-based company Twain.

This synergy between dance and local business thus becomes a source of inspiration for the artists, a form of communicative innovation for the companies, and a unique tourism opportunity for the municipalities involved. Creative, Local, Dance! aims to raise public awareness, bringing audiences closer to the performing arts as a tool for narrating urban places and the historical-productive richness of local businesses. Dance and site-specific performances open up new perspectives for observing and reinterpreting the urban landscape in a poetic key. The artisans from the businesses taking part in the project, with their age-old bookbinding techniques, create masterpieces that tell the story of “know-how”; in the same way, graphic design too reflects a growing return to handcraft. Arearea celebrates this connection between quality artisanal and industrial work, making it the beating heart of the project and highlighting its affinities with the world of dance. Choreography, after all, means “the writing of movement,” and is well aware of the practical-artisanal dimension activated in the processes of writing, creating, and shaping a material product that is nonetheless intangible.

The second edition of Creative, Local, Dance! aligns with the principles of the 2030 Agenda, promoting responsible energy consumption and creating skill-building opportunities for young people. The performances will be designed using natural or low-consumption lighting, sustainable promotional materials, and will involve 12 emerging artists who have just completed their professional training. The project also continues the tradition of AreaDanza, which has for years championed the “Borghi più belli d’Italia” (Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages) in Friuli Venezia Giulia, giving Udine and Venzone new ways to tell their story through creativity. Arearea will actively engage the local community through workshops and participatory activities, creating a direct bond between people, culture, and place. The closing events will take place on 22 June 2025 in Venzone and 5 July 2025 in Udine. Creative, Local, Dance! is not just a cultural project, but an invitation to discover the area through the universal language of the moving body, celebrating the synergy between artistic creativity, artisanal tradition, and sustainable innovation.

["post-10316","progetto","type-progetto","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry
["GET
