8.

eight bows_eight bodies
Roberto Cocconi/Compagnia Arearea
2026

Sound becomes a circular space, a vibration moving like a wave within it, with neither beginning nor end, flowing around, crossing through, and enveloping. Within this circle, trajectories of dance open up.

The idea is simple: to place eight dancers at the center of a circle formed by cellists, creating a ritual space in which sound and body merge into a single three-dimensional sculpture. The audience becomes guardian of the circle, a presence that both bounds and takes part. There is no privileged vantage point; each person experiences an unrepeatable fragment, a different detail, a breath unfolding right before them.

“8” becomes both symbol and form — a number evoking infinity, circularity, a continuous passage between individual and collective, between presence and absence, between silence and vibration.
