Advanced Training Program

The Advanced Training Program is a study hub for dance designed by the Arearea Company, aimed at those who wish to meet contemporary choreographers and educators and engage in a research group to start or continue an authorial exploration.

After seven intensive weeks of training, a residency period is planned during which small work groups can develop projects and circulate in festivals of the Giacimenti network—a creation and development network for the emergence of young talents, in collaboration with Hangartfest of Pesaro directed by Antonio Cioffi, Menhir/Le Danzatrici en plein air of Ruvo di Puglia directed by Giulio De Leo, Conformazioni Festival of Palermo directed by Giuseppe Muscarello, MODEM PRO/Scenario Pubblico_Catania directed by Roberto Zappalà, Progetto DA.RE. of Rome directed by Adriana Borriello, RiESCo/NETWORK INTERNAZIONADANZA PUGLIA of Bari directed by Enzo Schiavullo, Teatro Menzatì/TEX il teatro dell’exFADDA of San Vito dei Normanni directed by Valentino Ligorio, and Arte°grado/Teatringestazione/ALTOFEST of Naples directed by Anna Gesualdi and Giovanni Trono.

In addition to contemporary dance classes and workshops, the Advanced Training course includes visits to museums, meetings with musicians and cultural operators, online dance history lessons, participation in performances and cultural events, and sessions on the technical/organizational basics necessary for the dancer’s profession (CCNL).

What Drives Us

We work within a group dialectic and languages that require time, effort, dedication, and care. We prefer a dimension of reciprocity, creating experiences that can become a springboard for individual research activities, even a life project if dancers live their roles intensely and continuously renew themselves, seeking ideas, resources, and emotions. Dance for us is a practice, a repeated and concrete action, thus a way to rethink the ethics of the body and our passage on earth: it is the manifestation of an “other” way of being in the world. We practice a dance that results from the fusion of many techniques in the name of ever-new creativity. We love technique as a rule to assimilate and then forget. But we love it.
There is no dance without a group, we do not believe in disposable dancers… and from this conviction, the result: Arearea, today, confirms itself as one of the most numerous companies in the national scene.

After thirty years of scouting and training activities, the Company continues to train valid dancers on methods that have made dance history (Carlson, Limon, Graham, Cunningham) and contemporary practices.
