“I was born when there was no name yet for what I was.”
Madeline Miller
Circe: goddess, enchantress, and woman — an enigmatic, contradictory figure.
Mostly portrayed as a ruthless, seductive sorceress, in the encounters that fate reserves for her she reveals herself as human and vulnerable, sensitive to the sufferings of the mortal world and in conflict with the world of the gods from which she comes.
Sound, body, and voice become image in an attempt to unveil Circe in a different light from the one codified by the great classics.
The stage is inhabited by two women who embody Circe’s voice and body. The aim of this research is to highlight the strength and vulnerability of the feminine universe, guiding the spectator on an ancient journey rich with memories, evocations, loves, and abandonments. Surrender is not a defeat, but an awakening to one’s own identity.
In every woman resides a part of Circe.
