Lend Me Your Ears

Performative action tracing Vivo e Coscienza — P.P. Pasolini 1963

Ah! There you are, monument of life,
indelible, pure offspring of offspring,
with no father to guide you, no God to bless you.
There you are, because simply being there is your love!
O sea, o fields, all around, and you,
black with shadow, or burning with sun,
you condemn the world with your youth.
Gothic is your head, Romanesque your limb,
pagan your smile.
Your story is no longer in the world.
And yet I seem a stranger to the world — I, who renew it!
I, who express you and understand you!

A kiss, a kiss of pity, a kiss from chaste Conscience
to one who did not know — and now knows.

Within Pier Paolo Pasolini’s extensive literary output, there exists — albeit unfinished — a trace that connects him to ballet and dance.
We refer to Vivo e Coscienza from 1963, a crucial year in his personal turning point and an extreme one in his experimentation with dramaturgical form.

LEND ME YOUR EARS is a broad-spectrum research project involving established artists and younger generations, with the aim of reflecting upon — and generating art from — some fundamental questions of our present:
What life are we able to imagine in times of the West’s psychotic collapse?
What imprint does the pandemic leave on our expectations of the world? On social psyche? On the imagination of the future?

The project is supported by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region within the framework of cultural activities celebrating the centenary of the birth of Pier Paolo Pasolini.
