Morpheus
Marta Bevilacqua / Compagnia Arearea
2018
Morpheus is the God of the night, of dreams and shapes. In place of eyelashes, he has two butterfly wings. He dresses little but never has a cold. He is very fast, he can be here and there in a flash without making any noise. He acts when no one sees it, he turns into people he doesn’t even know and makes them visible in a dream. His bouquet of poppies shines in the night. It puts everyone to sleep but Her. In the dark, a girl is waiting for him on the threshold of half-sleep.
The wait and the meeting soon change into a dance made of tensions and falls, distances and proximities. Falling into the arms of Morpheus can be soft and, at the same time, risky because that embrace puts us in contact with another world that belongs to us, though. On stage there is also a black box … it reveals to us that nothing is as it seems and in the night, in the deepest darkness, our dreams have a matter.
