PETIT #1
an easy piece for an encounter
Alessio Maria Romano/Compagnia Arearea
2025
Petit is a small exercise. A sonata, a game, a match. Four dancers communicate through a language made up of 24 small movement actions, each born from 12 contact sequences. Along the path traced by four sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti—which gradually unravel over the course of 30 minutes—the dancers may choose which actions to play, and therefore which encounters to trigger or avoid. Petit is an experiment on choice, on responsibility, on letting go and taking hold, on the consequences of one’s decisions and the visible traces they leave behind. Petit is a constant search for the other. A continuous flow of bodies, and thus of images—and perhaps of hopes.
