Marta Bevilacqua
ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
President of the Arearea association, sheis involved in relations with institutionsand festivals. She is a choreographer,trainer, and dancer, as well as the artisticdirector of AreaDanza, an urban dancefestival.
EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCES
She trained at the Accademia Isola Danza in Venice under thedirection of Carolyn Carlson (2001), she has been working withArearea Company since 1998. She worked with experimentalcompanies such as Adarte, Aldes, Balletto Civile, Ersilia Danza,Naturalis Labor, TPO, CSS Teatro stabile d’innovazione del FriuliVenezia Giulia, Versilia Danza.
CHOREOGRAPHIC EXPERIENCE
Featured among her most rewarded works: Nec Nec (AnticorpiExplò), Organon_about the bulkiness of thought (EquilibrioAward), Grafts_the technical body, Ruedis_Wheels of border.
She took part in the following international projects: Lieux Publicswith the performance Daphne_for an urban mythology; Writingsite by site in Graz, for the international network IN-SITU, withPanta Rei_for an urban philosophy, produced by the Royal Palaceof Venaria Reale (Turin); her project Over the moon, created inManchester, Zaragoza and Genoa, was produced by DanceChannels, an European platform supporting new choreographers.
In 2016 she signed two pieces (Summer and Winter) in the urbanproduction Le Quattro Stagioni, a project created together withRoberto Cocconi, with whom she is co-author in 2017 of thetheatrical version, Le Quattro Stagioni_from Summer to Autumn, ashow selected at the NID Platform 2017.
Her latest productions are Schnurrbart_Fritz according to Lou, Playwith me, Morfeo (Network Anticorpi XL – CollaboraAction Kids2018); Concetti Sfumati ai Bordi(2018), Il Rovescio (2019) andHoming (2020) premiered at the Church of La Maddalena inPesaro, supported by HangartFest, Festival for the newcontemporary scene, throughout the three years.
She is co-author with Roberto Cocconi of the last production forthe thirtieth anniversary of the company BO.LE.RO (2023).
OTHER CHOREOGRAPHIC EXPERIENCES
She collaborates with RICCI/FORTE as company coach, for LaRamificazione del Pidocchio (2016) and signs the stagemovements of the opera Turandot which opens the season of theSferisterio – Macerata Opera Festival (2017) and La Mano Felice_TheCastle of the Bluebeard Prince: diptych for the Teatro Massimo inPalermo (2018). She sight the coreography of Nabucco for theFestival Verdi in Parma (2019) In 2020 she choreographed MarinoFaliero at the Donizetti Theatre in Bergamo for the DonizettiOpera Festival 2020. In 2022 she choreographed La forza deldestino played at the Teatro Regio in Parma for the Verdi Festival.
MISSION
Flexibility and a penchant for risk lead her to engage ineducational and social projects deeply rooted in everyday reality.This allows her to approach dance in a craftsmanship manner,studying humanity, and infusing her critical steps with the spirit ofthe times. Her choreographic hand is distinguished by thecombination of gestural research and thematic needs. Hercreations nourish themselves with philosophical referencesexpressed through a contemporary and authorial key.
PEDAGOGICAL EXPERIENCES
She teaches contemporary dance in high-level training centerssuch as the Civic Academy of Dramatic Art Nico Pepe in Udine, theAcademy of Diversities in Bolzano, and Lo Studio in Udine. She is atutor and lecturer in the Performance section of the Master’s inCommunication and Non-Verbal Languages at Ca’ FoscariUniversity in Venice.
